We are seeking a Medical Director of the Imaging Research Center at CCHMC. The IRC is a well established research enterprise and represents the research branch of the Department of Radiology at CCHMC. The IRC currently has 6 PhD physicists and funding to hire several additional positions including a number of positions in the newly established multidisciplinary Pediatric Neuroimaging Research Consortium (PNRC). Research instruments in the IRC include 7T/30 Bruker, 3T/60 Bruker, 3T Siemens TRIO MRI scanners, a micro CT scanner, and access to four other clinical 1.5T MRI units. The Department of Radiology at CCHMC is one of the nation's largest, with thirty clinical pediatric radiologists and more than $1.5M in research funding in 2005. The Department trains 7 ? 9 pediatric radiology fellows each year.
The Medical Director will assume a leadership role in the IRC and PNRC as a principal scientist and mentor to junior faculty; be responsible for medical and ethical issues related to imaging research in children; lead clinical, translational, and basic imaging research; and facilitate coordination between PhD researchers and clinicians.
Candidates should have doctoral degree in medicine and/or science and experience/interest related to pediatric neuroimaging. Board certification in radiology, pediatrics, pediatric neurology, clinical psychology or psychiatry and prior experience with extramurally funded research in imaging with at least three years experience as faculty at an academic center are basic requirements. The ideal candidate would also possess a PhD in physics, medical physics, bio-medical engineering, or related field and have a technical background in neuroimaging.
